Our vision is an open environment where researchers and research professionals are recognized for a wide range of behaviors and contributions that benefit the Open Research ecosystem.
How is Rescognito Used?
Scholarly Societies use Rescognito to Recognize Membership Contributions:
Scholarly societies such as Earth Sciences Information Partners (ESIP) and Research Data Alliance US use Rescognito to acknowledge their membership for a wide range of contributions including: Committee work, Conference posters, Conference session organization, Conference presentations and Webinar contributions. Explore and visualize ESIP recognition here: https://rescognito.com/03q5xa910 and https://rescognito.com/institutionReasonsVisualization.php?iav=03q5xa910 or https://rescognito.com/037x9qj67 and https://rescognito.com/institutionReasonsVisualization.php?iav=037x9qj67
Researchers use Rescognito to Claim Publication CRediT:
Using the CRediT taxonomy, Rescognito enables researchers to be formally recognized for their individual contributions to publications (including datasets, software, protocols and preprints). Just add the publication's DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to the end of the Rescognito URL e.g. https://rescognito.com/...yourDOI... Here is a live example of a publication with awarded CRediT recognition: https://www.rescognito.com/v/10.1111/1365-2656.13053 - For more information see the video explainer: https://youtu.be/C4uMFz5wRZc
Publishers Collaborate with Rescognito to Implement CRediT
Publishers such as World Scientific Publishing are collaborating with Rescognito to make CRediT recognition available to their journal authors
Researchers use Rescognito to Complete Publication-Linked Checklists:
Research funders increasingly expect researchers to record a wide range of publication-related information. This is usually captured using Checklists. Rescognito offers a highly cost-effective, rapid and flexible way to collect this information from authors. For example, a Data Availablity Checklist (DAC) can be easily accessed and completed by adding the publication DOI to the Rescognito base URL: e.g. https://rescognito.com/DAC/...yourDOI.. Completed checklists can be accessed in the same way - here is a live example: https://rescognito.com/dac/10.1101/2020.01.17.910216 - For more information see the video explainer: https://youtu.be/B1U4dk0lqmc
Create Your Own DOI-Linked Rescognito Checklist:
Researchers use Rescognito to create and customize their own Checklists related to a DOI. Give it a try at: https://rescognito.com/createchecklist
Our mission is to expand researcher recognition, to add transparency, increase effectiveness, and to improve research investment outcomes for individuals and institutions by providing a fair, open and granular platform for the recognition of a broad range research activity and good citizenship. Rescognito allows researchers to openly acknowledge colleagues (and to be acknowledged by colleagues) for meaningful contributions to the research process, such as:
- Data sharing
- Reproducibility practices
- Sharing negative results
- Participation in discussion groups
- Software development
- Clinical trials management
- Community outreach
- Public engagement
- Completion of research-related checklists
The Rescognito Open Ledger draws on public information contained in researchers' ORCID® records. ORCID iDs provide a definitive way to uniquely identify individual researchers. DOIs, grant IDs and other persistent identifiers (PIDs) are also used where available as links to appropriate contributions.
Rescognito was founded by Richard Wynne and is implemented by a team based in Boston, MA and Montreal Canada.
